Research interests: Rami Kantor's research focuses on the evolution of resistance to antiretroviral medications in individuals infected with HIV, which jeopardizes treatment success. This involves clinical research, bioinformatics and phylogenetic sequence analyses, development of quality control and analysis methods for large sequence datasets, and basic laboratory research. He is particularly looking at drug resistance in HIV variants that predominate in resource-limited settings and in developing countries, where the majority of the AIDS epidemic is located, with the hypothesis that HIV diversity leads to differences in drug resistance evolution, which may affect patient care.
