Research: Lightweight Materials: Mechanism based modeling of deformation in Aluminum

Summary

The goal of this project is to develop and apply computer simulation techniques to predict the influence of alloy composition on dislocation motion in aluminum-magnesium alloys. There are three current projects

 

1. Development of hardening laws for single-crystal aluminum

3. Numerical simulations of tube hydroforming
