General Information

There are two labs in EN 4: Dynamics of Bows and Arrows and Safety Testing a Baby Walker. A brief description of each lab is given below.

You must complete the two labs: failure to complete a laboratory will result in no credit for the course.

Each lab project involves: (i) planning of the laboratory experiment with a pre-report of two-page length; (ii) making some measurements in the laboratory; (iii) doing some calculations so as to draw conclusions from your measured data, and (iv) writing a report. Detailed reports are required for both labs.

rbullet.gif (904 bytes) Laboratory reports will be graded for presentation and clarity, as well as for technical content. If you have trouble with technical writing, you should contact a lab TA or Professor for help, just as you would with a math problem...

Laboratory measurements will be done in groups, with 4 or 5 students in each group. However, each student must submit a separate report. No collaboration in writing is permitted for writing reports.

To form lab groups, each group should fill in a single electronic sign up form provided below and send it to brown.en4@gmail.com. You must submit the form by the sign-up deadline listed below.

Due dates for each lab report are given below.

If you have to submit a lab report late, you must request a permission to do so in writing before the due date. Late labs will only be accepted under exceptional circumstances (such as a Dean's excuse or a written medical excuse)

The apparatus for each lab is located in Room 096 of the Undergraduate Engineering building.

You are recommended to read this article before you start to do any laboratory experiments.
