We regret to announce that
EN4 will have a midterm exam and a final exam.
Midterm Exam:
Thursday March 5th. Closed book, closed notes.
You may bring two double-sided sheets of hand-written
summary notes to use as reference.
Final Exam:
Friday May 15th.
OLD EXAMS: These are
provided as a rough guide to the nature of EN40 exams.
The course has been revised significantly during the past
year, however, so the exams contain material that has not
been covered. In addition, we used to have two
midterms in EN40, but now only have one to open up time for
more design projects
In particular: (i) we
have done very few problems where you need to do a lot of
calculus by hand; (ii) we have not covered
normal-tangential and polar coordinates. A number of
additional topics have been covered instead - in particular
deriving equations of motion for systems; and MATLAB.
MATLAB will not be on the exam, but there may be problems
where you need to derive an equation of motion.
If you have kept up with HW and design projects you should
(hopefully) find this year's
midterm substantially easier than the samples below.
