Study of the kinematics and dynamics of particles and rigid bodies. Principles of motion of mechanical systems. Concepts of inertia, work, kinetic energy, linear momentum, angular momentum, and impact. Applications to engineering systems, satellite orbits, harmonic vibrations of one and two degree of freedom systems. Lectures, recitations, and laboratory. Prerequisite: ENGN 0030. Corequisite: MATH 0020 or 0180
