Feedback Quiz: EN123: Nov 24, 2003

I have used Simulink to generate the feedback system diagram below:
Step is the input, Scope is the output and integration is represented in Laplace transform format as 1/s.
The circles with + / - signs are algebraic summation units.

In terms of the Laplace transform the answer is Scope(s) = T(s)*Step(s), where T(s) is the transfer function of the overall system. The "open loop" transfer function [G(s) if you like] of the inner positive feedback loop is called "Transfer Fcn" above.

Your question: What is T(s)? Your answer will be in the form of a ratio, numer/denom , where denom is denom(s) and will be a second order polynomial of s. (Note there are two integrators in the path from Step to Scope, making the system second order.) In fact your answer will look like , so just supply the correct A, B, C real numbers and you're done.

This quiz is being given in class and you have a 20 minute time limit.

You are not allowed to collaborate with your teammates. But you can use any notes you like.
During the 20 minutes for the quiz you can go off and log onto the internet, if you think that will help you.

Your quiz will be graded by the next class meeting.
If you solve for the correct answer, your scorecard will be signed;
if not, take the next feedback quiz, to be handed out after Thanksgiving.
In case you did everything right expect for a calculation mistake (such as a sign error) show your work on this test page.
