Start-up Company Based on Professor Webster’s Research Highlighted in the Indianapolis Star

Research from Professor Thomas J. Webster’s (Division of Engineering and Department of Orthopedics) lab which led to the formation of the start-up company NanoVis, Inc. was highlighted in the Indianapolis Star (“Improving Implants”, Tuesday, November 13, 2007; http://www.indystar.com ) as an upcoming company to watch. NanoVis, Inc. acquired technology from Brown, Purdue, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute based on nanotexturing of implants to decrease infection, inhibit inflammation, and promote tissue growth. Before coming to Brown, Professor Webster conducted research at both Purdue and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The company is currently located in West Lafayette, IN and was founded in 2006. They expect their first product in the marketplace will be a nanopolymer that helps implants and tissues better integrate.
